Description

During the last years, the AMICI collaboration, established during the AMICI H2020 project (https://eu-amici.eu/) supported the use of the existing accelerator and magnet Technology Infrastructure to the benefit of large accelerator facilities in Europe and worldwide. The extremely valuable platforms existing in many laboratories are used in networking R&D activities but also in the frame of service agreements established either between laboratories, projects or with industry.

The AMICI discussions and part of the activities are continued in the framework of the WP13 I.FAST European Project, a Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Program funded by the European Union.

We are pleased to invite you to the AMICI-I.FAST Workshop on Facilities for beam test of accelerator components, which will be held in Kraków, 12 October 2023. The workshop is organized by The Henryk Niewodniczański Institute of Nuclear Physics, Polish Academy of Sciences.

The purpose of the "Facilities for beam tests of accelerator components" workshop is to bring together personnel from scientific laboratories and industrial companies that prepare components used in devices exposed to different types of ionizing radiation, i.e., in the construction of medical devices for radiation therapy, components used in the construction of large research accelerator facilities, devices operating in high radiation fields (eg. reactors nuclear fusion), and those intended for use in space.

The workshop aims to identify the need for testing the radiation resistance of nonsilicon electronic components and to determine changes in the physical properties of structural materials used in the construction of radiation-exposed equipment. The use of new materials, including new composite materials, adhesives and epoxy resins, polymer optical fibers, 3D printed components in the construction of equipment and apparatus exposed to radiation has become increasingly widespread. Research is needed on the effects of radiation on such materials. During the meeting will be to present the possibility of testing irradiated materials in laboratories with the capacity to test the physical parameters of materials. The meeting will also formulate expectations and identify opportunities for cooperation
