Submission details for the ENVIRA 2025 Special Issue in JER
We are pleased to announce that the submission portal for the ENVIRA 2025 Special Issue in the Journal of Environmental Radioactivity (JER) will open on 2 November 2025 and close on 2 January 2026.
To submit your manuscript, please follow the JER Guide for Authors and select Article Type: VSI: ENVIRA 2025 in the submission system.

Practical Information for ENVIRA 2025 Participants in Poland
Currency & Exchange Rates
Polish currency is the złoty (PLN). It is subdivided into 100 groszy. Indicative exchange rates (September 2025):
- 1 PLN ≈ 0.28 USD
- 1 PLN ≈ 0.234–0.235 EUR
Exchange rates fluctuate, so please check just before your trip or rely on your bank/card provider.

Payments (Card, Cash, Mobile)
- Cash (PLN) is legal tender; useful for small purchases, rural areas, and markets.
- Cards (Visa, Mastercard) are widely accepted. American Express less so.
- Contactless payments (Apple Pay, Google Pay) are common.
- BLIK (local mobile payment system) is popular but mainly for Polish bank accounts.
- Some stores may accept EUR, but PLN is recommended to avoid poor exchange rates.
- Money can be exchanged in both, banks and exchange point (Polish: Kantor) located all around the city
Additional Important Information
- Language: Polish is official; English is widely spoken in tourist areas.
- Phones: EU roaming works; emergency 112 works even without SIM.
- Safety: Poland is generally safe; watch for pickpockets in crowded areas.
- Electricity: EU type E plugs, 230V / 50Hz.
- Time zone: CET (UTC+1), CEST (UTC+2 in summer).
- Tipping: Customary 10–15% in restaurants if service is good.
- VAT: Included in prices; tourists may reclaim VAT on certain purchases.

Special Opening Lecture by Prof. Karol Życzkowski
Sunday, 14 September 2025 – before the Welcome Reception
We are pleased to announce that the ENVIRA 2025 Conference will open with a special lecture titled:
“100 Years of Quantum Mechanics”
by Prof. Karol Życzkowski, President of the Cracow Branch of the Polish Academy of Sciences, specialized in quantum mechanics and its modern applications.

This event is organized at the personal request of Prof. Pavel Povinec and will take place on Sunday, 14 September, just before the Welcome Reception.
Although the subject touches on quantum theory, the lecture will be given in a popular-science format, accessible to all participants regardless of their field of research.
We warmly invite all participants to join us for this inspiring and thought-provoking start to ENVIRA 2025!

We kindly inform all participants that the list of poster presentations—divided into Poster Session 1 (Monday, 15.09) and Poster Session 2 (Tuesday, 16.09)—is now available under the Conference Programme section.
Please check which session your poster has been assigned to.
Each session will take place in a separate room. Authors are kindly requested to follow the display and removal instructions provided in the poster list document.

The ENVIRA 2025 Conference Programme is Now Available!
We are pleased to announce that the preliminary programme for the 8th International Conference on Environmental Radioactivity (ENVIRA 2025) is now available on our website. The conference will take place from 14–19 September 2025 in Kraków, Poland.
The programme includes plenary sessions, parallel sessions, and poster presentations, covering a wide range of topics related to environmental radioactivity.

Free Public Transportation for ENVIRA 2025 Participants
We are pleased to announce that the City of Kraków, through the Cracow Convention Bureau, has generously offered its support to the ENVIRA 2025 Conference. As part of this support, all registered participants will be entitled to free access to public transportation in Kraków during the conference dates, 14–19 September 2025.

We are pleased to inform you that EURADOS (European Radiation Dosimetry Group: https://eurados.sckcen.be/) has decided to support young scientists' participation in the 8th International Conference on Environmental Radioactivity.
Participants can apply for the EURADOS Young Scientist Conference Support 2025 (YSCS). The YSCS will consist of a contribution of up to 500 € covering either the conference fee and/or the travel and/or the subsistence costs, up to the applicant’s choice and following the EURADOS reimbursement rules.
