Description
The SilCA (Silicon Coulex Array) scattering chamber, developed at the Heavy Ion Laboratory in Warsaw to accommodate various particle detectors, including a CD-like annular DSSD (Double-Sided Silicon Strip Detector) [1], was assembled at HIL Warsaw together with the EAGLE array [2] in late 2023. The setup was commissioned in-beam in November 2024 with the EAGLE spectrometer using the digital readout provided by CAEN V1725 modules and the XDAQ system [3].
The first physics experiment with this setup was performed in December 2025 at the Heavy Ion Laboratory in Warsaw to study the electromagnetic structure of the $^{104}$Pd isotope using the Coulomb excitation technique [4]. The DSSD array was placed at backward angles to measure back-scattered $^{32}$S projectile nuclei, in coincidence with the $\gamma$ rays detected in the HPGe detectors of the EAGLE array. Transitions depopulating the excited states in $^{104}$Pd were clearly observed, including the 555 keV $\gamma$ ray from the $2^+_1$ state, a triplet of $\gamma$ rays with energies of approximately 750-800 keV associated with the $2^+_2$, $4^+_1$, and $0^+_2$ states, as well as the 926, 1342 and 1638 keV transitions de-exciting the $6^+_1$, $2^+_2$ and $3^-_1$ levels, respectively. In addition, indication of the 741 keV transition depopulating the $4^+_2$ state was also observed.
The preliminary results of the data analysis will be presented in the poster.
