High-spin band structure of 103Pd

Description

One of the most interesting phenomena in the nuclear structure physics is the competing excitation modes of collective and single-particle motions. In recent decades, studies of rotational band structures in transitional nuclei with A$\sim$100 mass number have revealed numerous related phenomena, $e.g.$ signature inversion, band termination, appearance of chiral rotational structures and different vibrational modes.
To search for new rotation bands and signs of octupole correlations, high-spin level scheme of the nucleus $^{103}$Pd was studied revisiting an already existing data set measured previously through the $^{70}\textrm{Zn}(^{36}\textrm{S},3n\gamma)$$^{103}\textrm{Pd}$ reaction at $E=130$~MeV. The obtained $\gamma$ rays were detected by the EUROGAM-II spectrometer, which was capable of detecting high-fold $\gamma$-ray coincidence data.
Based on this, the previously reported bands were extended, and 3 new high-spin bands were observed. Furthermore, precise energy and intensity values of the transitions were determined enabling us to deduce B(E1)/B(E2) ratios, and thus searching for signs of possible octupole correlations.
The obtained experimental results and their interpretation will be presented.
