VENUE
The conference will be held at the Polish Academy of Sciences – Scientific Center in Rome. It is located in the city center, near Piazza Venezia.
The extact address of the venue is Vicolo Doria 2, 00187 Roma (map). To get inside, press 6 on the doorphone.
HOW TO GET TO THE VENUE
Rome has a vast public transport network and it is fairly easy to get around the city. In addition to buses and trams, there are also three metro lines (A, B and C). You can check all the Rome’s public transport maps on this website.
As of today, no metro line runs through the very center of Rome (an extension of line C is currently under construction). However, metro still can be used to get near the city center.
From Termini Station
Termini Station is Rome’s main railway station and major public transport hub. Two Rome Metro lines (A and B) intersect at Termini metro station, and a major bus station is located at Piazza dei Cinquecento, the square in front of the station.
There’s a few ways get to conference venue from Termini.
By metro
· line A: to get to the venue, take the train going in the direction Battistini. Get off at the stop Barberini. From there, you can either take the bus 80 in the direction Piazza Venezia and get off at the stop Plebiscito (map) or take a 15 minute walk (around 1,2km).
· line B: to get to the venue, take the train going in the direction Laurentina. Get off at the stop Colosseo. From there, you can either take the bus 51 or 85 and get off at the stop Corso/Ss. Apostoli (map) or take a 15 minute walk (around 1,2km).
By bus
· lines 40 and 64: both go in the direction of the Vatican City (line 40 – direction Borgo Sant’Angelo, line 64 – direction P.za Stazione San Pietro). If you take one of these buses, get off at the stop Plebiscito (map).
· lines H or 170: line H in the direction Dei Capasso, line 170 in the direction Agricoltura. If you take one of these buses, get off at the stop Quattro Novembre/S. Apostoli (map) and take a short 3 minute walk.
From other places
You can reach the conference venue taking any buses going in the directions: Piazza Venezia, Via Plebiscito, Via del Corso.
TICKETS AND PASSES
The best option is to purchase your tickets before you board any public transport in Rome. Tickets include all means of transportation (metro, buses and trams) and they can be purchased from tobacconists, bars, or vending machines at Metro stations and major bus stops.
If you were not able to purchase your ticket before boarding, you can use the contactless payment system (Tap&Go). However, in case the machine does not work, it is best to buy the ticket beforehand – there are no ticket machines in the vehicles.

ACCOMMODATION
Hotels in Rome can be very costly, especially in the high season. As the conference venue is right in the historic city center, it is not the easiest of tasks to find economical accommodation in its immediate vicinity. However, there are ways to address this issue.
LOW-COST OPTIONS
The best way to avoid high prices and the commute from the outskirts of the city is to sleep in monasteries. There are dozens of them in Rome – below you can see the most recommended.

This monastery in located in the district Prati – it is just by the Vatican City and is considered one of the best districts in Rome. This place is very well communicated, with bus stops and metro station just nearby.
Cost: around 45€ for one person/night + 6€ tassa di soggiorno (city tax).
Important note: the gates of the monastery close around 11PM.
How to reach the conference venue from there?
You can either:
· take the bus 81 going in the direction Malatesta from the stop Cola Di Rienzo/Tacito (map), get off at the stop Ara Coeli/P.za Venezia (map) and take a short 5-minute walk through Piazza Venezia;
· take metro A (going in the direction Anagnina) from the station Lepanto, get off at the stop Barberini. Then take the bus 80 going in the direction Piazza Venezia and get off at the stop Plebiscito (map);
· take a 30-minute walk (around 2,5km) through the Centro Storico to see such monuments as Pantheon or Piazza Navona.

This monastery is located right between Termini Station and Colosseum. Just around the corner is Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore – one of the most well-known churches in Rome.
Cost: around 40€ for one person/night + 6€ tassa di soggiorno (city tax).
Important note: the gates of the monastery close around 11PM.
How to reach the conference venue from there?
There are not many direct public transport routes connecting this monastery and conference venue. The best way is to take a 20-minute walk (around 1,5 km). However, if you do not feel like walking, you can go the nearby metro station (Cavour), take the train going in the direction Laurentina and get off at the next stop (Colosseo). From there catch either bus 51 or 85 and get off at the stop Corso/Ss. Apostoli (map).
