General: Faster start of the meeting

Agenda:

1. Welcome new members - Arshiya, Richard, and Andreas Mr (more than 30 members from 6 departments!)

2. Presentation by Syed on “Basics of Gravitational Wave Physics: Connecting Theory to Data”

3. QnA based on the presentation

1. Are there any trends for the different final BH masses? Why the jumps in slopes?

1. Need more data to understand statistics

2. Maybe a distribution of the mass of the lighter BH in the merger may show something

3. How does the polarization of the GW signal affect the analysis?

1. Important to test for other theories of Gravity 

4. Precise measurement of binary spin may hint at different physics

1. Very important for isolated vs dense mergers analysis

5. Syed is a GW Astronomer now!

4. Communique with OAUJ

1. Brief meeting with Łukasz Stawarz, Head of the Department of High Energy Astrophysics, UJ, and member of OAUJ

2. Willing to have their PhDs take part in our meetings, and have our members join theirs

3. A future scope of the Forum, pushed ahead due to this chance meeting

4. We need to complete a few tasks before we can welcome this collaboration

1. IFJ access cards for outsiders to visit at a regular interval - Task #5

2. Update webpage to separate private and public information - Task #1

3. Update budget request plans for IFJ - Task #2

4. Streamline and fasten other Forum activities - Task #3 and #4

5. Shared task

1. Survey of members (Syed+)

2. For Task #1, #2 and #4 groups

3. Have geographical representatives to aid in data collection

1. June has been very busy for most members, pausing efforts on the task groups

2. Piotr will present the next Seminar in July, on CREDO. The PPSS students may also join

3. Ananya will present the Seminar in September on a TBD topic
