DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Mateusz Chwastyk (Institute of Physics\, Polish Acad
 emy of Sciences\, Warsaw\, Poland)\n\nIntrinsically disordered proteins (I
DPs) pose significant challenges for computational modelling due to their
conformational flexibility and the complexity of their interaction network
 s. Their description requires methods capable of capturing structural orga
nization across different spatial scales\, from local amino-acid interacti
ons to the collective behaviour of entire protein chains. In this talk\, I
will focus on topological aspects of IDP systems and numerical methods fo
r their characterization\, with particular emphasis on the SPACEBALL algor
ithm and its applications. I will discuss how mathematical and computation
al approaches can be used to investigate the structural organization of di
sordered protein systems and characterize interactions at the residue leve
 l. Particular attention will be given to the relationship between local in
teraction patterns and global structural properties\, as well as to the ro
le of these features in protein aggregation and amyloid formation. These p
henomena are relevant to understanding neurodegenerative diseases and the
formation of membranelessorganelles\, in which IDPs often play a central r
ole. The talk will highlight how topological analysis and numerical modell
ing can contribute to a more systematic understanding of these complex sys
tems\, with examples illustrating the application of the SPACEBALL algorit
 hm to their computational investigation.\n\nhttps://indico.ifj.edu.pl/even
