Description

The picture of molecular dynamics is determined by the chemical structure, but also by the nature of the interactions that influence the physicochemical properties of the system. Dielectric spectroscopy does not provide direct insight into this problem at the atomic level, but due to the fact that specific interactions and molecular structure influence the mobility of molecules, this information will be contained in dielectric spectra, which we can examine in a wide and often unattainable frequency range with other techniques, temperatures and pressures. Therefore, it is worth building an understanding of how molecular factors will influence the picture of dynamics examined by this method. During the seminar, I will present the results of dielectric tests of various classes of glass-forming materials, including: amorphous pharmaceuticals, compounds with lower molar masses capable of aggregation and/or creating more complex supramolecular structures with various molecular bases, molecules of larger sizes and anisotropic shapes. The common feature of these materials that motivated me to undertake research on their dielectric behavior was the desire to understand how various aspects resulting from complexity at the molecular level will affect the molecular dynamics studied using the BDS method.

Podczas seminarium przedstawię wyniki badań dielektrycznych różnych klas materiałów szkłotwórczych, m. in. amorficznych farmaceutyków, związków o mniejszych masach molowych zdolnych do agregacji i/lub tworzenia bardziej złożonych supramolekularnych struktur o różnym podłożu molekularnym, cząsteczek o większych rozmiarach i anizotropowych kształtach.
