Effect of molecular structure and thermodynamic conditions on the supramolecular structure of monohydroxy alcohols

Supramolecular nanostructures are observed in many non-crystalline phases, glasses, and liquids, where molecules interact through intermolecular bonds and associate into clusters of various sizes. The results of, among others, X-ray diffraction measurements, will be presented for compounds associating through hydrogen bonds - monohydroxy alcohols, differing in the length of the alkyl chain, the type of carbon ring, or the location of the hydroxyl group. 

Nanostruktury supramolekularne obserwuje się w wielu fazach niekrystalicznych, szkłach i cieczach, gdzie cząsteczki oddziałują poprzez wiązania międzycząsteczkowe i łączą się w klastry o różnej wielkości. Wyniki m.in. pomiarów dyfrakcji promieni rentgenowskich zostaną zaprezentowane dla związków łączących się poprzez wiązania wodorowe – alkoholi monohydroksylowych, różniących się długością łańcucha alkilowego, rodzajem pierścienia węglowego czy umiejscowieniem grupy hydroksylowej.
