Effective field theories for heavy quarkonium

The physics of heavy quark mesons (heavy quarkonium) allows us to
precisely obtain QCD parameters otherwise inaccessible. Effective field
theories enable us to efficiently describe these systems accounting for
various non-perturbative effects. In this talk I will review the state-
of-the-art theoretical setup for heavy quarkonium, and its phenomenology
in real physical systems accessible in current and future experimental
efforts.
