Professional Journey through Nuclear/Positron Field in Poland and the United States

by Dr Jagoda Urban-Klaehn (Idaho National Laboratory)

Europe/Warsaw
Description

While Hiroshima initiated the Atomic Age for warfare, civilian nuclear power’s progress began in Idaho with Experimental Breeder Reactor generating electricity in the town of Arco. Altogether 52 nuclear reactors were built on Idaho high desert.  Idaho State University in Pocatello is the place with the biggest concentration of civilian accelerators that have been created during  Reagan space race program.  Now these accelerators are used for peaceful reasons. Jaga would talk about her scientific journey in Institute of Nuclear Physics in Poland, in Texas Christian University and Idaho and also discuss some interesting nuclear history.
