Description

Proton radiotherapy is an advanced cancer treatment technique that precisely targets tumors while sparing healthy tissues. Treating tumors in moving organs like the lungs and lymphomas presents unique challenges requiring advanced planning and delivery methods. At Cyclotron Centre Bronowice (CCB IFJ PAN), starting from June 2023, patients with moving tumors have been treated.

This presentation will cover key aspects of proton therapy for moving organs, including motion tracking techniques, dose assessment and delivery methods. Clinical benefits for patients will be highlighted, alongside research aspects. The technical and organizational challenges of implementing 4D proton radiotherapy in clinical practice will be presented.
